PDT Cases
Portable Data Terminal (PDT) Cases and Scanner Holsters by Agora Leather
Products are essential accessories for the users of portable terminals
worldwide. These terminals are generally called PDTs, but they are also
identified as Hand Held Terminals (HHTs) or Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs).
Our PDT cases are most times used as operating cases (Op cases), but sometimes
these are also used as storage and carrying cases. The holsters are normally
worn by the users and the terminals need to be removed from these holsters for
use.
Our PDT cases are used in many industries including:
- Logistics
- Warehousing
- Distribution
- Shipping
- Retail
- Manufacturing
- Field Service
- Transportation
- Healthcare
We design and manufacture these form fitting Op cases to protect the
expensive terminals from physical elements and from accidental bangs and drops.
Additionally, our cases allow hands-free carrying of the terminals with the help
of attachments like Shoulder Straps, Belt loops, Belt clips, or Waist Belts.
Since each PDT case is designed uniquely for convenience and ease of use of a
specific terminal, we offer a wide range of benefits to the users. These
benefits include:
- Logistics
- open access to keypad and display
- water resistant clear panel over keypad and display
- various types of full and partial zippers
- elastic and non-elastic adjustable hand straps
- quick access to battery
Our PDT cases are designed to exceed form, fit, function, and aesthetic
requirements.
We have an in-house design group with 75+ years of combined experience in
creating innovative designs for case products. Our PDT cases are manufactured
from a wide range of durable and wear resistant materials including various
types of Nylons, Polyducks, Polyesters, Vinyls, Leathers, Neoprenes, and
Stamoids among others. We have a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility,
up-to-date systems with 70+ networked computers, and three self-hosted web
sites.
Besides PDT cases, we design and manufacture Scanner holsters, PDT Hand Straps,
Scanner Boots; and accessories including Belts, Shoulder Straps and Retractors
for terminals marketed by various manufacturers.

PDT Hand Straps
Portable Data Terminals (PDTs) are hand held devices which serve dual
purposes. These terminals are used as scanners, and are also used as data input
and retrieval devices with the help of keypads and displays. In both of these
applications, a PDT needs to be held in the palm without obstructing the scan
window, keypad, and display.
To hold these terminals in hand while in use, and to protect terminals from
accidental drops, you need PDT Hand Straps by Agora Leather Products.
We design and manufacture PDT hand straps for a wide range of PDTs marketed by
various manufacturers. These hand straps are designed for attaching to the
custom plastic or metal parts on the back of the PDTs or are sewn to the back of
our PDT Cases.
Based on the specific application requirements of the various terminals, our
hand straps are manufactured from different materials including elastics,
webbing, and leather. Our elastic hand straps are available in braided, woven,
or knitted varieties.
In general, woven elastic hand straps are firmer than braided straps while
knitted elastic hand straps stretch more easily than braided straps. While
elastic hand straps stretch to fit various hand sizes, we make webbing and
leather hand straps adjustable by hook & loop attachments.
PDT hand straps by Agora Leather Products are used by men and women in various
industries worldwide. They comfortably fit a range of palm sizes of men and
women, blend-in with terminals, and are durable.
Besides PDT hand straps, we design and manufacture PDT Cases, Scanner Holsters,
Scanner Boots; and accessories including Belts, Shoulder Straps and Retractors
for terminals marketed by various manufacturers.

Scanner Holsters
Next to personal computers, bar code scanners have increased productivity and
convenience in many aspects of industrial, commercial, and retail operations in
almost all industries. Portable wireless scanners are even more useful since
these can be carried to the point of use.
But to carry these scanners or portable data terminals (PDTs) around, you need
Scanner Holsters or PDT Cases by UltimaCase. Our PDT cases are most times used
as operating cases (Op cases), but sometimes these are also used as storage and
carrying cases. Our holsters are normally worn by the users and the terminals
need to be removed from these holsters for use.

Scanners are available from several manufacturers in various sizes and shapes
and are offered with or without pistol grips, and with or without keypads and

Wearables
Industry Today:
Wearable products allow users to be mobile whether they work in an industrial
environment like a manufacturing facility, a warehouse, in logistics and
transportation environment, or in a retail location. Since mobility enhances
productivity, the needs for these wearable products are increasing.
A wearable product could be a product like a scanner or a mobile computer with a
hand strap or a wrist strap, and the accessory could be a holster or an
operating (OP) case with a waist belt or a shoulder strap. An OP Case is a form
fitting case that allows the use of a scanner or mobile computer without being
removed from the case. A holster is normally carried on the waist, and the
scanner or mobile computer is removed from it while in use.
The products used in industrial applications tend to have more applications so
these products tend to be more rugged, weigh a little more, and look industrial.
Conversely, the scanners and computers used in retail environments tend to be
smaller, weigh less than their industrial counterparts, and are more like
consumer products.
Products differ somewhat depending on the user environment. For example, a
heavier duty material would be used for industrial applications for more
durability. Whereas in retail applications, materials used are lighter duty for
a more stylish look.
Holsters and OP Cases are normally made of durable materials like Cordura or
ballistic nylon and are designed to store and facilitate carrying of products.
These products are usually padded for protection against bumps and short drops.
Attachments like shoulder straps and waist belts are normally made of durable
materials like polypropylene or nylon. These holsters and OP cases facilitate
scanners and computers to be used on the person.
There are also products which consist of a scanner worn on operator’s fingers
and a wrist computer worn on the forearm. The computer is mounted on a wrist
mount which is equipped with adjustable straps. These detachable mounts work
well for right as well as left-handed operators.
Trends:
There are more opportunities for scanner and mobile computers in retail and
service industries with emphasis on complete solutions. For example, the ability
to record a transaction and print a receipt from one wearable package. The
wearable is a key integral part in a total solution.
Also there are more offerings of products which are not tethered. This is
another opportunity for more wearable products.
There are also applications which require wearable solutions for better results,
such as, insulated cases for freezer applications, ruggedized cases for voice
applications, washable products for hospital applications, etc.

Future:
We are seeing a big growth in RFID applications mainly fueled by Walmart & DOD
mandating RFID labels on incoming shipments. As a result, we see a big growth in
wearable products to support the increasing demand.
The trend is towards smaller, lighter and more powerful devices. Also new
product releases are becoming more frequently available. This will continue to
require new wearable products for mobility. We see a very bright future in the
wearable industry.
